What is the Reproductive Health Program and what services are offered?

The Reproductive Health Program was established to help keep men and women healthy and is supported by funding from Title X and Title V.  Through this program, women can receive pelvic exams/pap smears, pregnancy testing and counseling, condoms, sexually transmitted disease testing, counseling and treatment, treatment for HPV, HIV testing and counseling, oral contraceptives (birth control), Depo Provera, and treatment for urinary tract infections.  Men's services include sexually transmitted disease testing, counseling and treatment, treatment for HPV, HIV testing and counseling and testicular exams.

Am I eligible for services?

All fees are based on a sliding fee scale - please contact your local health office for information on the current fee.  Services include:

Pregnancy testing
Reproductive Health services (counseling, education, STD testing, paps)
birth control alternatives
sexually transmitted disease testing (not part of reproductive health services)
Treatment for HPV
HIV testing
Treatment for urinary tract infections
Well Woman Exam
* Prices adjusted according to a sliding fee scale based on income and family size.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

More details to remember for my appointment.

Do not bring children, friends, etc.  Children are not allowed in the exam room during pelvic exams.  Please make arrangements prior to your appointment date.
You will need to know the first day of your last menstrual period.
Do not place anything into the vagina 48 hours before examination.  Intercourse (sex), the use of tampons, douches, etc. may alter the results of the pap smear.
Avoid unprotected intercourse for 14 days prior to appointment.
Please be on time.  You will be rescheduled if you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment.

How do I make or reschedule an appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call the Public Health Nursing office in your area at least 48 hours before your appointment.  Thank You.
